Chapter 1 - Wilber Fujr`ee, the Fire Dragon

A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, there lived a black dragon with red accents named Wilber Fujr`ee. He was very scary looking because he had long scary claws, he was very very tall and he could breathe fire. People would run away in fear whenever they would see him out and about because he was so scary looking. If they would just give him a chance and try to get to know him, then they would see that he was a very kind and gentle dragon and it was not his fault that he looked scary.

One day he woke up and decided to go out of his cave to stretch his wings. He walked outside of his cave and started unfurling his giant wings. It was nice to stretch them outside because each of his wings were taller and wider than most houses and his cave was not big enough to accommodate him stretching inside. However, on this particular day, it was extremely nice weather out so Wilber decided to stretch them out while flying high up in the sky. Wilber took off from the ground and into the sky and started flying around. It was then that he noticed that the nearby capital city of Nottingham, of the Great Kingdom of Ayur, was quite a bit larger than it was the last time that he took to the sky.

This change in size in the city filled Wilber with curiosity and it was with that curiosity in mind, that he decided to fly above the city. He flew back and forth a few times to get a really good look at the updated city but this caused some of the townspeople to become afraid because they had never seen Wilber before. Usually, Wilber stays away from the city because he is a nice, kind and considerate dragon that doesn’t want to scare anyone, but today, Wilber’s curiosity got the better of him.

Right before Wilber decided to leave, he noticed a number of bandits in the forest on the outskirts of town. He could tell they were plotting something sinister and that they were going to raid the capital city to steal things. It was after this realization that Wilber decided to come up with an idea to scare them away because he was the sworn protector of the kingdom. His plan was to breathe fire right over their heads and scare them just enough to make them run away. He knew that his plan would work because everyone thought that he was a very scary dragon.

Wilber flew over to the bandits in the forest before they could escape and started breathing fire to scare them off but Wilber was overzealous and accidentally ignited some of the trees near the bandits. This frightened the bandits so much that they started to flee as fast as they could, but back in the city, some of the townspeople saw this happening and they were terrified of Wilber because they thought that they would be burned next.

The head of the royal guard was summoned by the current king of Nottingham, King Richard III, to go and discuss Wilber’s unannounced flyby and the subsequent burning of the Great Forest of Nottingham. The king was not angry or upset with Wilber because he trusted Wilber and the king knew that Wilber was an honorable dragon so he must have had a good reason for doing what he did. After all, it was the king’s own ancient ancestors that named Wilber the Supreme Protector of the Kingdom of Ayur and he was bestowed that title because the first head of the royal guard and the first king of Ayur were Wilber’s best friends.

Greyworm, the head of the royal guard, was dispatched to discuss the details of the King’s request with Wilber. After Greyworm gathered his supplies, he set out from the castle to find Wilber. He found Wilber on the edge of the forest and signaled to him that he wanted to talk. As soon as Wilber saw Greyworm, he flew down and landed in a nearby field and waited for Greyworm to arrive. Upon arriving at the field, Greyworm raised a white flag to show to Wilber that he was no threat and just wanted to talk. At first, Wilber was confused on why Greyworm raised a white flag but then it dawned on him that because Greyworm and Wilber have only talked a couple of times in the past, it made sense that Greyworm would be more cautious than the previous heads of the royal guard.

After pleasantries were exchanged, Greyworm started to discuss the impromptu flyby and the related burning of the forest. Wilber told him of his curiosity due to the updated city and then of the bandits that he had scared away. The King had a hunch that that was why Wilber was burning the forest and that is how Greyworm was ready to explain the King’s request to Wilber. The King’s request was as follows:

As set forth in the agreement between Wilber and the Great Kingdom of Ayur, it is requested that Wilber, the Supreme Protector of the Great Kingdom of Ayur, please rid the Kingdom of the evil, no good bandits named The Sticky Bandits. Upon completion of this request Wilber will be henceforth bestowed the title of Conqueror of the Sticky Bandits, and his name and likeness will be shown around the Kingdom for no less than five fortnights. It will, with this exchange, be such that this generation of citizens of the Great Kingdom of Ayur will come to know the deeds and heroism of Wilber the Dragon.

Wilber was more than happy to agree to the King’s request because he was a very useful dragon and he wanted to be very helpful. He told Greyworm that he was going to leave immediately to prepare to fulfill the King’s request because he wanted to help protect the kingdom and with that agreement in place, Greyworm left to report the news to the King. After mulling over the details of the king’s request, Wilber went to his cave to have some dinner and then go to sleep so that he would be well rested to tackle the challenges of the days ahead.

Chapter 2 - Wilber’s First Adventure

The next day, Wilber awoke to the serene sounds of nature in the bright and early morning. He was full of excitement for the coming adventure that he was about to embark upon. He left his cave and took off into the sky to accomplish the king’s request. Wilber was excited for his adventure because he could be a very useful dragon for the kingdom while also exploring and seeing new things. While flying around, he decided that his first task would need to be to search for The Sticky Bandits’ Lair. However, Wilber had a problem: he had no idea where it was and the king’s request had no clues about where it might be located. Wilber decided that his best course of action was to fly around the outskirts of the Great Forest of Nottingham in hopes that he could catch a glimpse of any clues that would direct him to the bandits’ lair. Around and around Wilber flew in the sky, zigging and zagging, flying left and flying right but Wilber could not spot any clues to where the lair might be.

Not to be deterred from his mission to stop the bandits and protect the kingdom, Wilber decided he might need to venture over the mountains and away from the capital city and the forest. With that in mind, Wilber turned due North and started to fly high above the mountain range that surrounded the capital city. In order to cross over the top though, Wilber had to fly high above the clouds because the mountain itself reached into the clouds. It was such an amazing view from above the clouds that it was almost as if he could see to the ends of the kingdom. After admiring the view for a little while, he decided that he was likely over the top of the mountain and he started descending below the clouds. Right as he could see the ground again, Wilber realized how hungry he was from all the flying that he was doing.

Wilber, in search of some food, started scanning the ground below him and that is when he noticed a farmer trying to pull his wagon full of vegetables toward his house. It seemed like the farmer was returning from visiting the town without selling any of his produce and, while Wilber was watching events play out, the farmer’s wagon wheel broke causing the farmer to be stranded in the middle of the road. Because Wilber likes to be a very helpful dragon, he flew down to the ground and landed near the farmer so he would not frighten him. As soon as Wilber landed he spoke softly, Mr. Farmer, sir, do you require assistance with your wagon? The farmer replied in terror, A. A. A. A. A. DRAAAGGGONNNN! That response startled Wilber because Wilber had tried his best to not frighten the farmer. Only after Wilber pleaded with the farmer for a while, in order to convince him that he wasn’t a bad dragon and that he was only trying to help, did the farmer tell Wilber about how all of his vegetables went bad on the way to the town market and it was much too expensive to dispose of them anywhere other than back on his own farm. Upon hearing the situation the farmer was in, Wilber asked the farmer if he could help him out by eating all of the spoiled vegetables, because for a dragon, they looked just fine to him. In return for letting Wilber eat the spoiled vegetables, Wilber would bring the farmer’s wagon the rest of the way to his farm so the farmer could fix the wagon and he wouldn’t need to pay someone else to bring it back to his farm. The farmer, hearing the sincerity in Wilber’s words, decided that Wilber was offering him a very good and fair deal so he accepted it. Upon hearing that the farmer accepted his offer, Wilber picked up both the broken wagon and the farmer and started flying to the farmer’s farm. Upon arriving at the farm, Wilber put the farmer and his wagon down and the farmer thanked him for all of his help.

After his job with the farmer was completed, Wilber asked the farmer if he knew of any bandits in the area because he was requested by the king to stop The Sticky Bandits from raiding, pillaging, and plundering the surrounding area. The farmer was extremely familiar with the surrounding area so he told Wilber where a good hiding place for the bandits might be located and immediately upon hearing this new information, Wilber took to the sky to go to the potential bandit lair. The farmer mentioned that it was about a six day journey to the cave that the bandits might be using for a hideout but, for a dragon that can fly and fly fast, it didn’t take Wilber very long to reach his destination.

Once Wilber arrived at the possible lair, he realized he could not really fit inside of the cave and that meant that he needed to come up with a plan to lure them out and capture them. He decided to wait and survey the area to get an idea of their movements but he waited and waited and waited and waited. For the rest of that day, he waited and only ever saw one person come to that cave but that was good news to Wilber because that meant that it is likely being used and he just needs to figure out if it is The Sticky Bandits’ base of operations. Wilber waited night and day for three more days high up on the top of the mountain before a bandit caravan approached the cave. Using his excellent dragon vision, he could tell that the approaching bandits’ outfits were emblazoned with The Sticky Bandits Insignia and that meant that he needed to act quickly before they made it into the cave where he couldn’t reach them.

Wilber quickly flew down to the makeshift road that the bandits were travelling on and landed directly between them and the cave. He started breathing fire and knocked over the wagon that the bandits were pulling. They pulled out a dragon net to try and capture Wilber but Wilber was able to dodge the net when they threw it at him by leaping into the air. It was at this point, Wilber had an idea: he was going to use the dragon net that they tried to use on him to catch them! Wilber flew in and grabbed the net and then circled back to lay the net on top of them. Luckily, Wilber was slightly more agile than the group of bandits and that helped his plan succeed. He quickly scooped up two sides of the net and that caused the bandits to lose their footing, and with them disoriented, he quickly grabbed the other sides of the net and lifted them into the air. Wilber hooked the net on a nearby cliff and went back to get the wagon and all of its contents but it was only after organizing everything that fell out of the wagon that he lifted the wagon into the air and then went back to the cliff for the net. He grabbed the net with his other set of claws that was not holding the wagon and started flying back to the castle as fast as he could.

Because this is Wilber that we’re talking about, it didn’t take him a long time to fly back to the castle and upon reaching the castle, Wilber found a courtyard that was large enough to accommodate both him, the bandits and the wagon. As he was landing inside the courtyard that he picked, royal guards swarmed the area because they did not know Wilber and thought that Wilber and the bandits were working together to try and steal things. However shortly after Wilber landed, Greyworm arrived in the courtyard and stopped all the guards from trying to harm Wilber but instead he had all of the guards arrest the bandits. Greyworm was able to get to the courtyard as quickly as he did because the sentries stationed on the outskirts of the castle saw Wilber’s approach and sounded the Dragon alarm which alerted Greyworm to the situation. After all the bandits were put in jail, Greyworm thanked Wilber for his excellent work in capturing most, if not all, of The Sticky Bandits. Wilber left the castle feeling that he had been very useful on his very first adventure for the current king.

Chapter 3 - Wilber Returns to Dragon Isle

It was a balmy Sunday morning in the Great Kingdom of Ayur and Wilber was sleeping very soundly in his cave. He had been continuously patrolling the edge of the Great Forest of Nottingham all day and night for two days without taking any breaks. Luckily for Wilber, he had been sleeping for a few days so when he was awakened by a loud crashing sound outside his cave, he wasn’t upset at all. Wilber was startled at first trying to figure out what had happened but realized that some big rocks, nearby his home, fell from the top of the mountain ridge that houses his cave. After realizing the source of the noise, Wilber was wide awake and he now needed to decide what to do for the day. That’s when it hit him: Dragon Unity Day was almost here. Dragon Unity Day only occurs once every seventeen years and always lands on the weekend of a full moon, and it is a day when all the dragons go back to their original nest on Dragon Isle to see their family. Wilber hasn’t been back to Dragon Isle since the last unity day which made Wilber very excited because he was going to see his family again! Wilber hasn’t seen his brother, Marcus the ice dragon, his sister, Lily the lightening dragon, his mother, Victoria the illustrious wind dragon, or his father, Victor the famous blue flame dragon, in a very long time and he missed them all immensely.

Wilber needed to determine when exactly Dragon Unity Day was going to occur but in order to do that, it would mean that Wilber needed to stay up during the night to watch the moon and the stars to figure out how they align and to determine the specific phase that the moon is in. Fortunately for Wilber, he was on night patrol and remembered the current star positioning and the moon phase, and based on his recollection, Dragon Unity Day was to take place in exactly twelve days. It should take Wilber only nine days to travel to Dragon Isle, which left Wilber three days to prepare to leave. Luckily, Wilber didn’t need three days to prepare and he could be all ready to go by the end of the day. With that as motivation, Wilber started preparing to leave as soon as possible because he wanted to be the first dragon to arrive for Dragon Unity Day. It took Wilber a little longer than he expected but he was finally ready to leave right as night fell across the sky and it was going to be a very beautiful night.

Staring out of his cave, he decided that he would wait a little longer, just until the moon was high in the sky, before starting his journey to Dragon Isle. As he waited, he watched the forest full of life and in complete darkness except for the radiant light from the moon and he tried to think of what he wanted to do with his brother and sister when he finally saw them again. After enjoying the scene for a while, Wilber launched into the sky because the moon was finally high enough so he could have an enjoyable start to his journey. Wilber turned South by Southwest and started to climb high into the clouds, as fast as he could handle. The higher he was, the faster he could go because of the extremely fast air currents that are high above the clouds. Before leaving, as part of his preparation, Wilber made sure to eat a significant amount of food so that he could have enough energy to fly for nine days straight. Wilber was flying and flying as fast as he could. Day and night, day and night for nine days until, finally, Wilber reached his destination: Dragon Isle, Home of all Dragons. Wilber landed on the island and he was astonished at the number of dragons already out and about despite it being very early in the morning but, then again, there were only two days remaining until Dragon Unity Day arrives.

Volcano Island

Wilber started looking around and wondered where his brother and sister might be. He was curious if they were already back on the island or if they were still on their way over. Shortly after he started looking around, Wilber got his answer: the Fujr`ee family cave was occupied. Upon entering the family cave, Wilber could hear his brother and sister farther back in the cave talking about things that they had seen or done since the last Dragon Unity Day, and as soon as Wilber came around the corner, they took notice and greeted him. They got to talking about all of the cool things that each of them had done. Wilber shared his stories, Lily shared her stories and Marcus shared his stories but, by the end of them all, they were all wanting to go on another adventure. Wilber brought up the idea of all three of them going on an adventure before Dragon Unity Day arrived. Marcus and Lily liked that idea so they all started to think of something that they could do or somewhere that they could go to have an adventure. After thinking for a while, Lily remembered a story that their parents use to tell them all the time about an ancient long forgotten special dragon treasure. When she brought it up to her brothers, they liked the idea and started brainstorming where it might be because their only clue from the story was how it was on an island with a very active volcano. Marcus had an idea based on his travels about where that island might be so they quickly ate some food to have enough energy and all three of them left the cave together to start their adventure before Dragon Unity Day.

Marcus took the lead because he knew where the island might be so Wilber and Lily followed him. By using the air currents high in the sky, they were able to fly extremely fast on their way to the volcano island. They were flying so quickly that by the time the sun was halfway through it’s journey in the sky, they arrived at the island with the giant active volcano just as Marcus predicted. They decided to split up to search the island for any clues that might reveal the location of the long lost ancient dragon treasure. Rumors say that it gives each of the dragons that find it an extra special power and that’s why over the millennia, many dragons have searched for it but none have found it. Wilber decided to take the north side of the island. Lily decided to take the east side of the island. Marcus decided to take the west side of the island. Each of them checked their respective areas but none of them found any clues that might lead them to the ancient dragon treasure so they all decided to wander around and search for more clues. As the day drew to a close, the volcano started to erupt, just as it does every day! The volcano was in the center of the island and when it was erupting it was throwing ash and rocks into the air that reached every corner of the island. However, what they were going to soon find out was that while the volcano was erupting, a small crevasse opens up near the base of the volcano but Wilber, Lily and Marcus would only find that out once they retreated to the center of the island to try to stop the volcano from erupting.

Due to the amount of ash and rocks that were being discharged into the air, Wilber, Lily and Marcus all met up near the southern-most point of the island where it seemed to be clearer because the ocean breeze was drawing the foul air away from the island. Once they were together, Marcus, being the ice dragon, mentioned that they should try and seal up the volcano using his ice powers. Lily and Wilber agreed with Marcus’ plan and they all started flying toward the center of the island where the volcano was located. Upon arriving near the base of the volcano, Lily noticed a small opening that wasn’t there before but it was just big enough that they could enter. They followed along the tunnel until they reached a large cavern that was right near the main magma line of the volcano. The tunnel system was very complex and there were three tunnels leading away from the large cavern that they were in. After some deliberation, they decided to split up and search the area for anything that might be useful. Wilber took the left tunnel, Lily took the center tunnel and Marcus took the right tunnel. They all agreed to roar as loud as possible if they needed each other when they found anything. On and on they looked, all three tunnels were very long and meandering. Eventually, each of the tunnels ended with large caverns of their own that only had a single item in each of them: a dragon altar that belonged to the Dragon God, Raszagal. Wilber, Lily and Marcus each approached their respective altars and when they got close enough, there was a blinding flash of light and they collapsed on the floor as if suddenly asleep.

Wilber opened his eyes first and everything looked so different that he realized he must be dreaming. However, in this dream, he was in front of a pedestal with a golden dragon standing behind it. This golden dragon was massively tall, its talons were long and scary but beautiful and it had a graceful, elegant and sleek tail with spikes on the end. She spoke to Wilber in a gentle but booming voice What is thy desire? Wilber didn’t answer and so she said it again What is thy desire? Again, Wilber stood there frozen in fear and she spoke yet again What is thy desire? Finally, Wilber replied I was just looking for the dragon treasure with my brother and sister. I desire to see them again because I love my family. Upon hearing that response, the golden dragon spoke again I am the dragon god, Raszagal. I have heard your request and you have passed my test. When you awake, you will have been bestowed an extremely important gift as a reward for your good natured heart. Suddenly, Wilber woke up from his dream and he noticed his ears were ringing. When the ringing subsided, he was awash in a brilliant blaze of red fire that turned to blue flames and after a few spectacular moments, it all dissipated. It was then that he noticed his new power, his reward from Raszagal: the ability to shapeshift into anything he could imagine! All of a sudden, Wilber accidentally turned himself into a Newt and luckily a moment later, he turned himself back into a dragon!

Lily opened her eyes next and everything looked the same as it did before the flash of light, so she didn’t realize it was a dream until she saw the golden dragon god, Raszagal, standing behind the dragon altar. She spoke to Lily in a gentle but booming voice What is thy desire? Lily answered immediately, quickly and confidently, My family and I were exploring this cave system to find the long lost dragon treasure and I stumbled across this cave with this altar in it. My desire is to see my family again. We will leave your volcano island as quickly as possible. Upon hearing that response, Raszagal spoke I am the dragon god, Raszagal. I have heard your request and you have passed my test. When you awake, you will have been bestowed an extremely important gift as a reward for your quick natured and honest heart. Suddenly, Lily woke up from her dream and she noticed her ears were ringing. When the ringing subsided, she was awash in a brilliant show of static electricity crackling all around her that seemed to be crackling faster and faster until abruptly stopping a few moments later. It was then that she noticed her new power, her reward from Raszagal: the ability to move at lightening speeds, super sonic flight and the ability to react to situations as if she could see briefly into the future.

Marcus opened his eyes last and everything looked distorted as if he was looking through a giant ice cube like it was a window. Feeling like he was in a dream, Marcus could make out a large imposing shape in the form of the golden dragon god of legend, Raszagal. She spoke to Marcus in a gentle but booming voice What is thy desire? Marcus was uncertain on how to answer so he hesitated and so she said it again What is thy desire? Marcus decided on his response and said I was exploring this island with my family and when the volcano erupted, I thought I could quench the eruption with my powers to protect my family but in our effort to subdue the volcano we found ourselves in this cave. My desire is to simply stop the eruption and save my family. Upon hearing that response, Raszagal stated I am the dragon god, Raszagal. I have heard your request and you have passed my test. When you awake, you will have been bestowed an extremely important gift as a reward for your attentive and thoughtful natured heart. Suddenly, Marcus woke up from his dream and he noticed his ears were ringing. When the ringing subsided, he was awash in a brilliant dance of water around him that seemed to freeze and thaw as if it were in an eternal game of tug of war and after a few moments, it all suddenly evaporated. It was then that he noticed his new power, his reward from Raszagal, the ability to control or create water on demand which means Marcus can now control all of water’s states: solid (ice), liquid (water) and gas (steam).

With Wilber, Lily and Marcus all having received new powers from Raszagal, the dragon altars started to crumble and as soon as they were complete rubble, the caverns started to shake as if they were collapsing. Fearing for their safety, they all started to escape as fast as they could. Each of them, according to plan, started roaring as loud as they could and didn’t stop until they started hearing each other. Finally, they met up in the original large cavern that all of the tunnels led to, but that cavern was collapsing too so they quickly made their way to the exit. After arriving outside of the tunnel, they realized that they were still at the base of the volcano and the volcano was still erupting! Marcus jumped into action and, leveraging his new found power of controlling water, he started to summon water directly into the mouth of the volcano in an attempt to cause the lava to solidify. As the water hit the lava, it instantly turned to steam and the lava started to harden. As the steam rose out of the volcano, Marcus converted it to water and let it fall back into the volcano to reinforce the water that he was already summoning. With the converted stream, there was so much water cooling down the lava inside the volcano that it only took about three minutes to stop the eruption. Once the eruption stopped, Wilber and Lily were so proud of Marcus’ quick thinking and they were astonished at Marcus’ awesome new powers!

They decided to head back to Dragon Isle in an effort to not miss out on Dragon Unity Day and, while they were flying back to Dragon Isle, they talked about everything that happened on the volcano island. They told each other about their experience meeting the dragon god, Raszagal, and they talked in great length about each of their new powers and how they could use them to make the world a much better place. They arrived at Dragon Isle when the moon was halfway across the sky, which meant that it was right around midnight and that their search for the ancient long lost dragon treasure of legend only took them one day! They still had one whole day until Dragon Unity Day but that was a good thing because after the day that they had, they would need a whole day of resting to recover. So, off they went into their family cave to have a well deserved rest and as they were all falling asleep, they wondered about all of the festivities that were about to occur.

Dragon Unity Day

It was the morning of Dragon Unity Day, the day that all of the dragons were anxiously waiting for. Dragon Unity Day is supposed to be a fun filled day. There are plenty of activities and games to play, plenty of different kinds of foods to try and sometimes the more talented dragons will put on performances for even more entertainment. Wilber, Lily and Marcus left their cave as soon as they woke up because they were very excited to see and participate in all of the exquisite events and venues. They traveled throughout the food stalls checking out all of the exotic foods that were brought in from around the world by the dragons that live far away. They tried various kinds of the foods; some of which they liked, some that were very very bad and some that were way too good that they almost didn’t want to share! They played the different dragon games that were setup and, as they traveled throughout the different venues, they were able to hear the different performances that were taking place. They were having so much fun that, by the time that they noticed, the day was almost over and with Dragon Unity Day coming to a close, that meant that the final event was drawing nearer. However, unbeknownst to Wilber, Lily and Marcus, the night was not going to be going as they planned and all of the other dragons would soon find out about them recovering the ancient long forgotten special dragon treasure!

The lunar zenith, which is when the moon is at its highest point in the night sky, was fast approaching and that meant the final event was about to occur! Upon realizing that the moon was almost at its zenith, Wilber, Lily and Marcus decided to go get a good seat for the dragon fireworks show! These are not normal fireworks, these are dragon fireworks. Basically, a dragon firework show is when many different kinds of dragons gather together and then perform a show by using their abilities to light up the night sky. A fire dragon breathes fire, an ice dragon shoots ice, water dragons expel water, lightening dragons spark lightening, wind dragons blow wind, and sometimes the rarer dragons with special abilities will also contribute to the show. For example, Victor and Victoria usually coordinate and then participate near the end of the show which is why they both are extremely famous. Victor is well known for his ability to breathe blue flames and Victoria is one of the only wind dragons that can manipulate all of the different elements while they are in the air so she usually participates during the whole performance. Just as the dragon fireworks were about to start, a bright flash of light engulfed the entire night sky startling all of the dragons in attendance and as the dragons were regaining their composure, they started to realize one by one that standing before them was the Great Dragon God, Raszagal.

All of the dragons were standing still in awe and disbelief and each dragon was trying to decide whether or not they were dreaming or if what they were seeing was actually their deity appearing before them. It was real. Raszagal had finally returned to Dragon Isle on this fateful Dragon Unity Day after many millennia of absence. She spoke to her many progeny, I, Raszagal, have momentarily returned as I had promised long ago because a chosen few have passed my trials and claimed the treasure that I left behind. The sounds of dragons gasping in shock could be heard from around the entire area. Raszagal continued, Yesterday, three members of the honorable House of Fujr`ee discovered and completed the trials that I had established as the condition of my return. As such, these individuals will be my representatives, the stewards of my will and you all should bestow upon them the utmost respect. They will be my eyes, they will be my ears and they will speak on my behalf. They each have received special gifts tailored to their individual strengths and they can be recognized by my seal that I will bestow upon them now.

Suddenly, Wilber, Lily and Marcus started to glow as bright as the moon in the night sky and as they were glowing they started to float up into the air. Once they were a few feet into the air, their glowing hands and feet started to pulse. After ten pulses lasting a second each, they started to lower back down to the ground. Upon landing back on the ground, everyone could see Raszagal’s crest on Wilber’s, Lily’s and Marcus’ hands and feet. It is finished, Raszagal said matter a factly. Raszagal continued, Treat these acolytes with honor and respect. They will lead you in my stead. They will be my voice. They are the chosen few with whom I will commune with after I am gone. Remember, you are all my children. I love you all dearly. With that, Raszagal disappeared.

The next day as things settled, the Fujr`ee clan was still coming to terms with what it meant that three of their members as acolytes. However, as the days passed, it became normal and as the dragons left to return to their homes abroad, Dragon Isle went back to being peaceful and sleepy. Wilber, Lily and Marcus all returned to their homes as well and when Wilber finally returned to his cave back in the Kingdom of Ayur, he couldn’t wait to go on his next adventure.

Chapter 4 - Wilber and the First King of Ayur

In the time before time, there was a pair of dragons named Victor and Victoria. They had a small brood of three dragon hatchlings that completed their family. They are known by Wilber, Lily and Marcus. On the day in question, Wilber is just setting out on his own to find his own path in life as every young dragon must do at one point or another. After saying goodbye to his family, Wilber took off into the sky to start his journey.

Meeting Zeratul

After flying for a long, long, long long, long time, suddenly, Wilber was being blown around in the air by strong winds. There was a storm brewing ahead of him and it was directly in his path. In an effort to avoid lightening strikes that might damage his wings and so he could remain safe, he started searching for a place to land. Wilber noticed that there was a large grassy area near the edge of the mountains that he just flown over and, in a stroke of luck when he landed in the grassy area, he noticed that there was a sizable cave not too far away. It seemed large enough such that he could wait out the storm in it so he decided to investigate. I wonder if I'll find anything interesting in there, he pondered outloud.

Upon entering the cave, Wilber could hear some noise coming from deeper inside. It was people. Wilber was nervous, as he had never met a human before. What should he do? Should he escape? Should he stay? He was unsure if he should proceed and in the middle of deciding what his next action should be, one of the humans on patrol shouted to the others about a dragon! At first, Wilber looked behind him thinking that there was another dragon that was also trying to hide inside the cave to wait out the storm. However, when Wilber looked behind and toward the entrance of the cave, there was nothing. What could all the shouting be about? There was no dragon and certainly no other humans. There was nothing. Wilber was confused, but yet, the human on patrol was still shouting that there was a dragon! Suddenly, more humans clad in plate armor and spears and swords came rushing out from the deeper part of the cave where Wilber heard the voices coming from.

The group of humans shoved their spears in Wilber’s direction to get him to back up. Wilber’s natural reflex was to do just that and that’s when he realized that he was the dragon that they were shouting about! However, Wilber was still confused: was he doing something wrong? He said, I mean you all no harm. I just came into this cave to ride out the storm. Please, we can share! And just as Wilber finished his plea, a human in fancier looking armor stepped out from where the other humans had come from and he said, Stand down men! This dragon means us no harm. A few of the other knights started to protest but the man continued talking over them, He has does nothing aggressive and he has said as much. After hearing this, all of the other humans retreated behind what could only be described as their leader. He continued further, My name is Zeratul. It is a pleasure to meet you Wilber. So, things calmed down after that and Wilber and the humans, led by Zeratul, started to talk and enjoy each other’s company. This is how Wilber and Zeratul met for the first time and, eventually, they became the best of friends. Once the storm cleared up, Zeratul invited Wilber to join him and his knights on a quest to establish a brand new kingdom. Zeratul wanted Wilber to be its Supreme Protector and the kindom’s greatest ally.

Establishing the Kingdom of Ayur

After some time had passed and the storm was far off in the distance, they left the relative safety of the cave and went exploring in the great forest. They were searching for the best location to establish a capital city for the fledgling kingdom. They had Wilber scout out the forest from high above the trees because he had a clear advantage in spotting a prime location to build a city. Shortly after reaching the proper altitude, he noticed a great spot to start an encampment. It was near a mature river that was considerably wide and everyone knows that you should always build a fortress or village near a reliable source of water. Wilber, Zeratul and his knights spent the next several months rooting out all of the unsavory beasts and evil wild animals in the area until they were finally ready to establish the capital city of Nottingham.

Now, the key to growing any city is enticing people to move to it and if you do that enough, eventually, you will have a very large city. It’s city building 101. So, how is Zeratul going to encourage people to move to his city? What could he do to make them want to live there? Well, first, you need a good location. Check. Second, it’s always a good idea to have a way to protect the citizens of any city or kingdom. Check! Wilber is a great protector! Third, you need a reliable and high quality water supply. Done! Wilber chose a location that was very close to a large mature river. Fourth, you need money and jobs, so we’ll call that commerce. Guess Zeratul has some more work to do in that area! And with all that in mind, Wilber and Zeratul set out to entice people to relocate to his brand new kingdom and the capital city of Nottingham.

Over the next several decades, Wilber and Zeratul would go on many adventures and Nottingham would blossom into a bustling city. It would become the center of trade for the newly developing kingdom. Zeratul’s new kingdom would become known as the shining star of the region and Zeratul’s tales would draw many different people to his kingdom. People would come to the city due to the stories but they would stay and make a life in Nottingham because the city was clean, the kingdom had some really unique and amazing laws, and everyone loved Zeratul as the king. However, at the heart of this stability was the ever-watchful eye of Wilber Fujr`ee, the Fire Dragon and Supreme Protector of the Kingdom of Ayur. Wilber would continue to watch over the Kingdom of Ayur and he go on adventures with Zeratul for many years to come.

After a few hours of flying, Wilber landed on a small island in the middle of the ocean. The island was called Rainbow Island and it was a very special place. The Rainbow Island was home to the Rainbow Emperor, a very important dragon. The Rainbow Emperor was responsible for creating rainbows. Every time it rained, the Rainbow Emperor would create a beautiful rainbow. But something was wrong. There were no colors in the rainbow. The colors had all been shattered and were lost in the sky. The Rainbow Emperor was very sad and didn’t know what to do. Wilber saw the Rainbow Emperor and asked what was wrong. The Rainbow Emperor explained the problem and Wilber said he would help. Wilber used his fire breath to heat up the pieces of the rainbow and then used his ice breath to cool them down. This made the pieces of the rainbow come back together and the colors started to appear. The Rainbow Emperor was so happy and grateful to Wilber. He said that Wilber was a true friend and that he would always be welcome on Rainbow Island.

Version 2

Wilber was on his way to Rainbow Island, flying high in the sky, when he suddenly realized he had no idea where he was. He had been flying for hours, and he should have arrived at Rainbow Island by now. When he looked down, all he could see was a mass of blue and green. He must be lost! He flew lower to get a better view, and when he did, he saw the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. He was surrounded by a ring of seven colors, each brighter and more beautiful than the last. In the center of the ring was a magnificent castle made of all the colors of the rainbow. Wilber had never seen anything so beautiful in his life, and he was so enchanted by the sight that he forgot all about his mission to Rainbow Island. He flew closer to the castle to get a better look, and when he did, he saw a creature he had never seen before. The creature was so beautiful that Wilber couldn’t take his eyes off of it. The creature was the Rainbow Emperor, and he was just as enchanting as his home. The Rainbow Emperor told Wilber that he was the keeper of the colors and that it was his job to make sure that the colors were always bright and beautiful. The Rainbow Emperor explained that the colors had been stolen from the rainbow, and that it was Wilber’s job to help him get them back. Wilber was so excited that he agreed to help the Rainbow Emperor immediately. The first thing they had to do was to find the seven colors of the rainbow. This was not going to be easy, but Wilber was determined to help the Rainbow Emperor get the colors back. He knew that it was going to be a long and difficult journey, but he was ready for the challenge.

Wilber was shocked to hear this and immediately wanted to help. When they arrived in the City of Mist, they went to the City Hall to speak with the Mayor. The Mayor was very upset and told them that the ancient sippy cup had been used by the City’s founder to calm babies during a great storm.
