Bug sits on a rug. Bug sits on a rug with a mug.
“Hello!” says Bug. “I sit on a rug with a mug. Do you, Slug, sit on a rug with a mug?”
“I do,” says Slug. “I sit on a rug with a mug. And I hug a jug on this snug rug too.”
“Very good,” says Bug with a smug little shrug. “But can you chug from a mug while you hug your jug?”
Slug tries to chug from the mug while he hugs his jug. “Not bad for a slug on a rug,” says Bug.
“Now watch me,” says Bug. “I can tug on a plug While I chug from a mug and I hug my jug!”
“Please, Bug,” says Slug. “That’s too tough! Chugging mugs and hugging jugs while tugging plugs? I’ll probably slip and go THUG and THUG!”
“Nonsense!” says Bug. “Here’s a trick: Bring that big pug with the smug little grin. Let’s see if you’re quick enough, slick enough, Slug.”
“A pug on our rug?” asks Slug with a sigh. “Yes! A smug pug to hug while you chug from your mug, All balanced atop of your favorite jug!”
Slug tries to balance on top of the jug, While hugging the pug and chugging the mug. The pug starts to wiggle! The jug starts to jiggle!
CRASH! SPLASH! SMASH!
Slug, pug, jug, and mug tumble down on the rug. “Oh, what a bug you are!” grumbles Slug.
But then Slug has a thought that makes his face light. “Hey Bug, since you’re smug with your tricks and your talk, Let’s see YOU do something that’s tricky and tough!”
“Like what?” asks Bug, with a curious look. “Like dug up some grubs from under this rug, While you lug a huge tub and hum a sweet tug.”
“Hum a tug?” asks Bug. “I don’t think that’s a thing!” “It is now,” says Slug with a sly little grin.
Bug tries to dig grubs while lugging the tub, Humming a tune that could maybe be called a tug. The rug gets all rumpled, the tub is too big!
THUMP! BUMP! SLUMP!
Bug tumbles down with a thud on the rug. The tub tips and totters, the grubs wriggle free, While Bug looks quite snug in the mud with a shrug.
Slug smugly smiles at the Bug in the muck. “Not so smug now, dear Bug, when you’re stuck in the gunk! Digging for grubs while you lug a big tub Is as tough as me hugging a pug with a mug!”
Now Bug and Slug slump back on their rug, Sipping from mugs as they plug up their jugs. “To friends who can chug and who tug and who lug! To bugs who sit snug and to slugs who don’t shrug!”
So if you spot bugs or see slugs on a rug, With mugs full of bug juice and slug drink in jugs, Just grin as you trudge by their snug little rugs. They’re probably teaching each other new tricks with their mugs!
